BC Housing presents Building Smart: Building Envelope Guide for Houses

Part 9 residential home construction is evolving, and the BC Housing Building Envelope Guide for Houses has now been updated to reflect many new and expanded industry methods. These additions have been carefully developed to reflect proven techniques, and high-performance assemblies that support the advances in energy efficiency, seismic provisions and a new, complete section on Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) construction for houses.

The focus of this expanded guide is to ensure that all detailed, 3D, step-by-step instructions are consistent with the standards of the industry vetting committee; this includes professional engineers, architects, applied scientists and technologists, building officials, the Canadian Wood Council, the Concrete Industry, the Province of BC, BC Housing and others. New for this guide are full, 2D section details of each of the new methods.

Enjoy this engaging session presented by one of the guide’s authors. Murray will provide a thorough review of the guide with a focus on the revisions and changes that have evolved a result of two major code changes, and the addition of the Step Code for energy efficiency in homes.
